Tuesday, July 1st, 1969: Philadelphia Swaps Ribant to San Francisco for McCovey
Several Phillies and Giants players soon will have to start shopping for a new home. It was announced today that the two teams came to agreement on a trade. Philadelphia will get 31-year old left fielder Willie McCovey and San Francisco will pick up 27-year old starting pitcher Dennis Ribant, 23-year old starting pitcher Les Rohr and 23-year old left fielder Mike Lum in return. "I'm not surprised by the news," one of the players told reporters, "It's part of the business and I understand that. I am looking forward to playing for the Phillies."

Ribant has a 6-6 season record so far. In 16 starts, he has fanned 63 batters in 97.1 innings with a 3.05 ERA.
