Thursday, July 10th, 1969: Giants McRae Will Miss Season
The doctors have spoken and Hal McRae of the San Francisco Giants didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. McRae sustained his season-ending injury during the Pittsburgh Pirates game yesterday at Candlestick Park G. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the San Francisco medical staff reported McRae had a ruptured medial collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 7 months.

Thus far this season McRae is hitting .271 with 7 home runs, 36 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 84 hits in 310 at-bats and has played in 82 games.
