Tuesday, July 15th, 1969: 400 Homers for McCovey
Philadelphia's 7-0 victory over Seattle was highlighted by Willie McCovey's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.

"I didn't see all of them out there," McCovey said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"

In 3 at-bats the Phillies left fielder collected 2 hits in his historic game, scored 2 runs, and had 2 RBI.

Taking a look at his lifetime stats, McCovey is hitting .305 with a total of 400 home runs.
