Monday, August 4th, 1969: Reds Bonds Named NL's #1 Player
It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Bobby Bonds, the Cincinnati Reds 23-year-old right fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for National Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 11 hits in 24 at-bats, compiling a .458 average with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs.

Currently Bonds is hitting .290 and has collected 19 home runs, 89 RBIs and scored 68 times, while playing in 102 games.
