Thursday, August 14th, 1969: Regan Sharp, Whitewashes Phillies
Phil Regan was downright nasty in pitching a 2-0 shutout against Philadelphia. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Phillies were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 4-hit shutout the Reds hurler chalked up 6 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.

"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."

Currently Regan has a record of 9-6 with 103 strikeouts and 25 walks in 157.2 innings and a 3.71 ERA.
