 | Thursday, August 21st, 1969: Star SS Signs Pact with Reds Cincinnati management got a shot in the arm today as Dick Groat announced he would re-sign with the organization at a rate of $175,000 per year. While some have questioned hiring a 38-year-old man, most fans and sportswriters appear receptive as Groat is still an A list player. So far in 1969 Groat is batting .305 with 3 home runs, 44 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 118 hits in 387 at-bats and a .337 OBP. |
