"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said the Oakland manager. "Merritt kept us confused the whole game." The California hurler rang up 10 strikeouts and issued no walks in his 6-0 shutout victory. So far this season Merritt has compiled a 13-10 record with a 3.22 ERA. |
