Monday, September 1st, 1969: League Issues 5-Game Suspensions for Brawl
Hot tempers flared up and a few punches were thrown at the Detroit and Atlanta game yesterday and ended up with two players ejected. Pete Ward of the Tigers and Bob Baird of the Braves have now been reprimanded and issued 5-game suspensions by the league commissioner for their parts in the fracas.

Currently Ward is batting .214 with 75 hits and 9 home runs. He has knocked in 56 runs and scored 38 times.

Checking out his stats for the season, Baird has notched 6 wins and 15 losses in 29 starts, 4.13 ERA and struck out 140 batters in 187.1 innings.
