The 23-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Carew sustained his season-ending injury during the Baltimore Orioles game yesterday at Metropolitan Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing the ball. Today the Minnesota medical staff reported Carew had a torn tricep muscle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 2-3 months.
This year Carew is batting .401 with 9 home runs. | |
