Sunday, September 9th, 1962: 5-6 Day for Retzer
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Ken Retzer. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Retzer went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Chicago pitching.

When the dust settled on the diamond at R.F.K. Stadium, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the Washington Senators had a 15-2 victory over the White Sox.

"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview.

K. Retzer hit a two-run home run off E. Wynn in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off D. Zanni in the 9th.

Retzer on the season is hitting .295 with 16 home runs. His stats include 66 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
