ORB2 News Article | | | Sunday, September 9th, 1962: Long 5-6 Against White Sox If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Dale Long showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Chicago White Sox and helped the Washington Senators beat them 15-2.
The manager for the White Sox told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Long keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
D. Long singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off D. Zanni in the 9th.
So far this year Long has hit .241 with 9 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 29 runs scored. | |
