 | Monday, May 5th, 1969: ACL Honors Vancouver Catcher 19-year-old Rick Dempsey made a few Vancouver headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Alexander Cartwright League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 13 hits in 31 at-bats to put up a .419 average. Dempsey collected 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 7 runs. In 1969 Dempsey has hit at a .362 clip with 25 hits, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and has scored 15 times. |
