 | Tuesday, May 20th, 1969: 5-Hit Game for Ruiz At Avenue Grounds Chico Ruiz of the Vancouver Mounties put on a hitting clinic today against Jacksonville. He banged out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and mauled Suns pitching, but came up short in the win department. In spite of his standout 5-hit performance, the Suns captured the game by the score of 2-1. "Hey, it's great to get that many hits in a game, but it would have been nice to win the game, too," were his words in the postgame interview. C. Ruiz was hit by a pitch in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 13th. This season Ruiz is batting .349 with no home runs. He has scored 19 runs and driven in 10. |
