Friday, May 30th, 1969: Rios Socks it to Mud Hens, Cracks 5 Hits
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Juan Rios of the Pawtucket Icecats. He tore up the Toledo Mud Hens to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Pawtucket 5-3 win today at 17th Street Ballpark.

"Rios was a tough out today," the Toledo manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

J. Rios singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off P. Gilliford in the 9th, hit an RBI double in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off V. Handrahan in the 12th.

A look at his season totals shows Rios with 2 home runs, .333 BA, .380 OBP, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
