Independence League News Article | |  | Monday, June 9th, 1969: KMLL's Top Player Named 25-year-old Gary Holman sent shock waves through Independence League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Holman made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .545 average, 12 hits in 22 at-bats, no home runs and 7 runs batted in.
Where the Rochester Red Wings first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Holman certainly made his mark last week.
So far this year Holman has 1 home run and a .323 batting average. | |
