 | Tuesday, July 1st, 1969: Chaney Bashes 5 Base Hits Today at Appalachian Power Park, Portland topped the Padres in spite of a standout batting performance by shortstop Darrel Chaney. He had a very impressive day at the plate, spanking Portland pitching for 5 base hits, but couldn't come away with a win. Portland whipped San Diego by the score of 7-3. D. Chaney singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. Thus far this year Chaney has hit .314 with 1 home run and 24 RBIs. |
