Independence League News Article | |  | Monday, July 7th, 1969: Great Week for Jacksonville's Luis It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Alexander Cartwright League, but last week Luis Alvarado of the Jacksonville Suns reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
Alvarado rocked opposing pitching for a .500 average (11-22), no home runs and 2 RBIs to come away with the award.
Thus far in 1969 Alvarado is hitting .248 with no home runs, 13 RBIs, 19 runs scored and has compiled a .284 OBP. | |
