Independence League News Article | |  | Monday, July 7th, 1969: Moore Goes 5-5 Against Akron At Athletic Field Archie Moore was the King of Swing today in the 9-4 win over the Shadows. The Indianapolis right fielder stepped into the batter's box 5 times against the Akron and delivered 5 hits.
It was a sensational game for him. He told the press, "Unbelievable feeling. It felt good. 5 for 5! It does wonders for your batting average, too."
A. Moore singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off N. McRae in the 8th.
Currently Moore is batting .269 with 42 hits and 1 home run. He has knocked in 13 runs and scored 21 times. | |
