Independence League News Article | |  | Monday, July 14th, 1969: Red-Hot Valentine Scorches Icecats "Believe it or not," said Miami shortstop Bobby Valentine, "they threw me some good pitches today."
That would be hard to believe for anyone who saw him dispose of the Icecats with a great 5-hit performance.
"He made it look easy," said the Pawtucket manager, who saw his team fall to the Miami Marlins, 10-4. "Hats off to him!"
B. Valentine singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 9th.
This year Valentine is hitting at a .379 pace with 4 home runs and 37 RBIs. He has played in 82 games and scored 56 times. | |
