Independence League News Article | | | Tuesday, July 22nd, 1969: On a Roll: Lee Hits for Cycle It was a quite a day for Leron Lee at Athletic Park (IN)! He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is in a baseball game -- single, double, triple and a home run. The Jacksonville right fielder accomplished the rare feat during his team's 12-6 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers.
He told BNN reporters at the postgame press conference, "I never even thought about hitting for the cycle and what do you know, I did it. The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it is the 4 hits and the win that are important. But I guess it will be nice to see my name in the record book."
Lee went 4-5 in the game with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.
L. Lee singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off B. Haywood in the 8th.
So far this year Lee is hitting .286 with 2 home runs. | |
