 | Friday, August 1st, 1969: Indianapolis's Stargell Top KMLL Batter in July Willie Stargell put together a good July to earn the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Indianapolis officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Indians right fielder posted a .319 batting average with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored. On the season, Stargell is batting .307 with 19 home runs and 65 RBIs. He has played in 97 games. |
