Independence League News Article | |  | Monday, June 10th, 1968: Super Week for Spokane's Walton! 20-year-old Danny Walton made a few Spokane headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Alexander Cartwright League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 10 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .417 average. Walton collected 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
This season Walton is hitting .296 with 58 hits, 8 home runs, 30 RBIs, scored 28 runs and played in 51 games. | |
