Thursday, July 18th, 1968: Hicks 5-5 Against Hawaii
If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Joe Hicks showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Hawaii Islanders and helped the Spokane Chiefs beat them 14-6.

The manager for the Islanders told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."

If Hicks keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.

J. Hicks singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off B. Dustal in the 9th.

So far this year Hicks is batting .196 with 4 home runs.
