Independence League News Article | |  | Monday, July 29th, 1968: Reed Earns ACL Player of the Week In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Jack Reed of Toledo recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Alexander Cartwright League Player of the Week Award.
"I've been playing since I was a kid," Reed told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."
Reed outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 11 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run and 7 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.
In 94 games this year Reed has posted a .235 average and put up these numbers: 9 home runs, 33 RBIs and 61 runs scored. | |
