 | Tuesday, August 13th, 1968: Simmons Gets 5 Hits Ted Simmons of the Marlins was unstoppable in today's 7-6 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens at Banner Island Ballpark. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. "Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Miami catcher after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will." T. Simmons singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off S. Kealey in the 9th. This year Simmons has hit at a .386 pace and produced 79 RBIs, 14 home runs and scored 73 runs. |
