Independence League News Article | | | Monday, August 26th, 1968: Oliver Week's Top Player 27-year-old Nate Oliver sent shock waves through Independence League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Alexander Cartwright League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Oliver made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .500 average, 12 hits in 24 at-bats, no home runs and 4 RBI.
Where the Toledo Mud Hens second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Oliver certainly made his mark last week.
This season Oliver is batting .276 with 2 home runs. His totals include 42 RBIs and 61 runs scored. | |
