Saturday, September 14th, 1963: Baltimore Loses Adair for Season
The news is bad in Baltimore. The Orioles have lost the services of shortstop Jerry Adair for the rest of the season due to a scratched cornea. Adair was injured in a recent game with the Detroit Tigers while colliding with a player at a base and is expected to miss 3 weeks.

Adair is presently hitting at a .288 pace with 4 home runs, 44 RBIs and has scored 69 times.
Tuesday, September 10th, 1963: Fischer Scores KMLL Best Hurler Honors
The Baltimore clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Hank Fischer will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 1963 Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Hurlers Award.

Fischer made 28 starts this year, winning 14 and losing 6. He threw 186.2 innings, fanned 165, allowed 154 hits and 34 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .223 average as he logged an impressive 2.12 ERA.
Tuesday, August 27th, 1963: Ward Torches Athletics for 5 Hits
The Orioles whipped the Athletics 7-6 at Memorial Stadium and Pete Ward had a big hand in the win. The Orioles right fielder came to the plate 6 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Ward and a tough day for Kansas City.

"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."

Plan or not, Ward delivered today -- 5-6 is outstanding in any league.

P. Ward flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off R. Toppin in the 11th.

This year Ward is batting .283 with 115 hits and 15 home runs. He has scored 62 times and has batted in 60 runs.
