| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, October 1st, 1969: Jack Lamabe Blanks St. Louis Jack Lamabe of the Pittsburgh Pirates whitewashed the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 in a complete-game win, limiting them to 3 hits while chalking up 6 strikeouts and giving up no walks.
Talking to BNN writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Jack is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."

The 33-year-old Houston first baseman recorded the 300th homer of his career in the Astros 7-1 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In the clubhouse after the game, Killebrew told BNN, "I was just looking for a ball to drive... and I got one."
