At the age of 27, Jerry Buchek might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Cloverdale second baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 12 hits in 24 at-bats, no home runs and 2 RBIs last week in 6 games.
This season Buchek has delivered 101 hits in 306 at-bats for a .330 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .377 clip and his totals also include 29 RBIs and 33 runs scored. This year Buchek has played in 74 games.

It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League, but last week Jerry May of the Cloverdale Force reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
May rocked opposing pitching for a .423 average (11-26), 2 home runs and 10 RBIs to come away with the award.
